ClariVein® MOCA offers a gentle, non-thermal solution for varicose veins in Dubai. Ideal for heat-sensitive patients, this innovative treatment combines mechanical disruption with chemical ablation for effective vein closure without the need for tumescent anaesthesia.
Mechanico-Chemical Ablation (MOCA) using ClariVein® is a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins that avoids the use of heat.
MOCA combines two actions: mechanical irritation of the vein wall from within the vein and the delivery of a chemical solution called a sclerosant. MOCA is designed to seal shut the faulty veins without using tumescence anaesthesia and multiple needle pricks. ClariVein® works through a small spinning wire which is inserted inside the vein. As the wire spins it disrupts the inner layer of the vein wall and at the same time the sclerosant is injected through the catheter. This dual action damages the vein lining and closes off the vein, rerouting blood into healthier veins.
One of the key advantages of MOCA as a medical treatment for varicose vein, compared to other methods that use heat, such as laser and radiofrequency ablation, is that there is no risk of heat-related complications, such as nerve injury or skin burns. There is also no need for injection of local anaesthetic around the vein which is used in EVLA and radio frequency ablation. This makes Clarivane suitable for patients who are needle sensitive.
MOCA is performed as a walk-in, walk-out procedure, as a non surgical vein treatment in Dubai and patients can return to normal daily activities within a day. Before the treatment the vascular surgeon obtains a detailed ultrasound scan of the leg venous system to accurately plan the treatment.
